WHUST Announcement

In May 2023 WHUST received anonymous allegations about the Chair of the Trust. The Trust investigated the allegations, including seeking further information and contacting the police and other external organisations about the alleged offences.

We will not comment in detail about the allegations as to do so would breach confidentiality and could jeopardise live police investigations.

A report was presented to the Board on 30 August 2023 pointing out that, at that time, there were potential legal actions, including one in which the Chair was assisting the police but that she was not being personally accused of any wrongdoing.

The report to the Board concluded:

"It is unlikely that a disciplinary panel would receive any more information than we currently have until the separate police investigations are completed and any charges are made public. Therefore, the recommendation is that the Board agrees that, currently, there is no case to answer, but keeps a watching brief on the police investigations and any developments."

The allegations have now been added to and repeated to the wider West Ham supporter base. As the allegations distract from the work WHUST does, the Chair has offered her resignation and it has been accepted.

Sue was a founder member of the Trust and the Board thank her for the work that she has done for the Trust and her wider contribution to representing the West Ham fan base in a number of different forums.

The Board has appointed Terry Reynolds as Chair until the AGM in February.  Terry has been involved as part of the steering committee that established the Trust and was subsequently appointed as a board member once the Trust was formally established.
