David Sullivan’s attendance at the London Stadium

Further to negative supporter reaction following media speculation regarding David Sullivan attending games at The London Stadium the FAB have now spoken to the club and would make the following statement.
“ David Sullivan attending home games.
The FAB have talked to the club and expressed concerns Mr Sullivan’s presence is a distraction and potential security problem neither the team, club or fans need on a matchday.
Despite comments apparently whitewashing previous safeguarding issues we remain concerned Mr Sullivan’s attendance will cause offence and upset to the more vulnerable among the fan base, and it is clear from comments posted on numerous supporter platforms his presence is both unwelcome and seen as deliberately provocative.
Mr Sullivan has, as has been widely reported, already been advised not to attend games by the stadium owners, and that his presence would necessitate increased security measures incurring additional cost at a time when the club is under severe financial pressure and the stadium a huge burden on the public purse.
The following is an extract from the current ground regulations:
1 Notwithstanding possession of any ticket the Club, any police officer or authorised steward may refuse entry to (or eject from) the Ground any person:
1.1 that fails (or in the Club's reasonable opinion is likely to fail) to comply with these Ground Regulations and/or the Supporter Code of Conduct and/or any reasonable instruction issued by a police officer or authorised steward or officer of the Club; and/or
1.2 whose presence within the Ground is, or could (in the Club's reasonable opinion), constitute a source of danger, nuisance or annoyance to any other person.

Despite the comments and regulations shown above we are disappointed that at this stage the club feel unable to refuse Mr Sullivan entry to the stadium. We appreciate he remains a significant shareholder, but in our opinion that cannot override the club’s responsibility to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all those attending matches, and we hoped to move on from the protest scenes regularly witnessed during the Sullivan regime.
We are also disappointed but not surprised that despite his protestation of being a fan David Sullivan again seems to be putting personal interest before the good of the club, and this despite the high level advice not to attend.
The FAB would again place on record our overall support for the new executive team, the open and balanced dialogue on all topics under discussion, and our ongoing confidence we are witnessing the start of a new, much improved, era in the relationship between the club and its huge army of loyal supporters.
Our season starts on Saturday, a tricky cup tie with opposition buoyed by 9000 away fans. So we need absolute support from all attending Hammers, a scenario that will repeat throughout the season as all and sundry attempt to raise their game against us, now the divisions glamour boys. That demands 90 minutes of dedicated support to the team on the pitch, let’s make the stadium a place opponents fear, an impregnable fortress, and let’s remind the watching world 50,000 of us have bought season tickets, the Claret and Blue army is ready to march.
And to our club, its Board and Executives, we are fully behind you, but would ask you read this statement, and take the time available to reconsider your decision, and advise Mr Sullivan to reconsider and not be an unwelcome negative distraction. “
