FAB Statement on the Resignation of David Sullivan

7th June 2026

The 13 supporter group representatives on the Fan Advisory Board note the announcement that David Sullivan has stepped down from his role at West Ham United.

This marks the end of a significant chapter in the Club’s history. During his time as owner and Chairman, the Club experienced important moments, including a period of sustained Premier League membership and the unforgettable achievement of winning the UEFA Europa Conference League. Those successes will always form part of West Ham United’s story.

At the same time, it is no secret that the relationship between the Club’s leadership and its supporters became increasingly strained in recent years. Many supporters felt disconnected from key decisions, frustrated by a lack of transparency and concerned about the long-term direction of the Club. As supporter representatives, we consistently reflected those concerns through the appropriate channels and, in August 2025, publicly called for a change in leadership because we believed it was necessary to rebuild trust and create a stronger future for West Ham United.

Today presents an opportunity for a completely fresh start under the leadership of Karim Virani and the board.  We look forward with confidence to the change that is now underway.

The challenges facing the Club remain significant. Rebuilding on the pitch, strengthening governance, restoring supporter confidence and establishing a clear long-term vision will require commitment, leadership and collaboration. These issues do not disappear with the departure of any one individual.

We welcome the opportunity to work constructively with the Club’s current and future leadership to help rebuild the relationship between West Ham United and its supporters. The passion, loyalty and commitment of our fanbase remains one of the Club’s greatest strengths and should be at the heart of every major decision.

West Ham United has always been bigger than any owner, director, manager or player. It belongs to generations of supporters who have carried the Club through triumph and disappointment alike.

This should be a moment not for division, but for unity.

We look forward with optimism to the next chapter and will continue to represent supporters with the same independence, honesty and commitment that has guided our work throughout this period of change.

All of us must now make West Ham United again.
