FAB open letter to the West Ham United Board

15th June 2026

Dear Members of the West Ham United Board,

On behalf of the West Ham United Fan Advisory Board, we wanted to write to thank you for the leadership, judgement and courage shown during a hugely important period for the Club.

Over the past seasons, supporter representatives have consistently raised serious concerns about the direction of West Ham United, the disconnect between the Club and its supporters, and the need for stronger leadership, greater accountability and a renewed commitment to proper fan engagement.

Those concerns were not raised lightly. They came from people who care deeply about West Ham United and want the Club to fulfil its enormous potential.

The changes now taking place suggest that those concerns have been heard.

We recognise that difficult decisions are never easy, particularly at a football club with West Ham United’s history, complexity and emotion attached to it. However, by acting in the long-term interests of the Club, you have helped create the conditions for a much-needed reset.

The appointment of Karim Virani as Interim CEO, the willingness to engage more constructively with supporter representatives, and the decisions taken to move the Club beyond structures that had become a source of division, all provide an opportunity to rebuild trust. That opportunity must now be grasped.

Relegation has been painful for everyone connected with West Ham United. Supporters are entitled to feel frustrated, disappointed and let down. But they also want to believe again. They want a Club that listens, communicates honestly, acts professionally and recognises supporters as central to its future.

The Fan Advisory Board stands ready to play a constructive role in that process.

Our focus is now on helping West Ham United reconnect with its supporters, rebuild confidence, fill London Stadium with West Ham supporters, and create the unity and atmosphere the Club will need in the season ahead.

Trust cannot be rebuilt by words alone. It will require openness, action, and a sustained change in culture. But the steps now being taken give us genuine hope that a better relationship between the Club and its supporters is possible and will happen.

We therefore want to thank you for listening when it mattered, for acting in the best interests of West Ham United, and for helping create the chance of a fresh start.

The work begins now. The FAB will do everything it can to support positive, practical and constructive engagement so that West Ham United can move forward as one Club, with its supporters properly respected and involved.

Yours sincerely,

West Ham United Fan Advisory Board
